July 01 2011 - ongoing

Caitlin Warbelow '09GSAPP recently produced and played fiddle on her debut CD, "Manhattan Island Sessions", which features live Irish traditional music played at pubs around New York City.  The CD was nominated for a 2012 Independent Music Award.

Warbelow, who now lives in New York but grew up in Fairbanks, AK, highlights the live aspect of the recording, which aims to capture the spontaneity that is often lost during post-production. The album notes list 15 musicians, all of whom play at various sessions around New York together.

According to Warbelow, “My goal was to provide a snapshot of the Irish music community in NYC. Since this community changes so quickly, what with musicians moving in and out of town and being on tour, I’m very glad to have been able to do this recording when I did."

The CD is the first she produced herself and was released in July. CDs and MP3 downloads are available online at http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/manhattanislandsessions. They can also be found at College Coffeehouse.
